Boundary temperature reconstruction in an inverse heat conduction problem using boundary integral equation method

‎In this paper‎, ‎we consider an inverse boundary value problem for two-dimensional heat equation in an annular domain‎. ‎This problem consists of determining the temperature on the interior boundary curve from the Cauchy data (boundary temperature and heat flux) on the exterior boundary curve‎. ‎To this end‎, ‎the boundary integral equation method is used‎. ‎Since the resulting system of linea...

Dissipation and entropy production in deterministic heat conduction of quasi-one-dimensional systems.

We explore the consequences of a deterministic microscopic thermostat-reservoir contact mechanism. With different temperature reservoirs at each end of a two-dimensional system, a heat current is produced and the system has an anomalous thermal conductivity. The microscopic form for the local heat flux vector is derived and both the kinetic and potential contributions are calculated. The total ...

Splitting schemes for hyperbolic heat conduction equation

Rapid processes of heat transfer are not described by the standard heat conduction equation. To take into account a finite velocity of heat transfer, we use the hyperbolic model of heat conduction, which is connected with the relaxation of heat fluxes. In this case, the mathematical model is based on a hyperbolic equation of second order or a system of equations for the temperature and heat flu...

Temperature Profiles in Hamiltonian Heat Conduction

We study heat transport in the context of Hamiltonian and related stochastic models with nearest-neighbor coupling, and derive a universal law for the temperature profiles of a large class of such models. This law contains a parameter α , and is linear only when α = 1. The value of α depends on energy-exchange mechanisms, including the range of motion of tracer particles and their times of flight.

The Entropy Formula for Linear Heat Equation

§0 Introduction. In a recent paper of Perelman[P1], an entropy formula for Ricci flow was derived. The formula turns out being of fundamental importance in the study of Ricci flow (cf. [P1, Sections 3, 4, 10]) as well as the Kähler-Ricci flow [P2]. The derivation of the entropy formula in [P1, Section 9] resembles the gradient estimate for the linear heat equation proved by Li-Yau in another fu...
